Specifically, please note the terms outlined in the INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS and CONTRIBUTION LICENSE sections – we do not claim any ownership of our users’ contributions; you retain the rights to any intellectual property you share.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Data privacy overview
We respect our users’ privacy. User data is NEVER sold or shared with any external party, and users can completely and permanently remove their account at any time. Doing so is irreversible, and will attribute all contributions to an “Anonymous” user profile.
When visitors leave replies on the forums or comment on blog posts, we ensure that your IP address is not stored or associated with your content. Additionally, when submitting content using the SUBMIT CONTENT or CONTACT pages, we store only the data submitted in the form, and collect no IP information from the submission.
The only circumstance under which IP addresses are maintained is in conjunction with orders submitted on the BUY page. In these instances, your IP address is used to determine shipping and VAT tax requirements, and is stored with your order info in compliance with GDPR regulations. However, orders can be submitted without logging in or registering for the site, and a user account is NOT required to make store purchases. Thus, orders need not be affiliated with your account in any way.
Please note that while we do everything in our power to ensure the privacy of our users’ data, NO PLATFORM IS 100% SECURE. Therefore, please consider taking additional measures to protect your privacy: use burner emails for registration, make use of encrypted connections, do not share personally identifying info, etc.
Default Gravatar override
While this site is built on a WordPress platform, we do not make use of the Gravatar service that is included as a WordPress default setting. Instead, user avatars and info are exclusively based on user-submitted profile content.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact/Submit Content forms
The supplied user/comment data is emailed to an admin account. None of this is used for any purposes other then communication, and is NEVER shared with external parties.
If content (i.e. a story or post) is submitted via the Submit-Content page, the associated image and text is stored as a “Pending” post, requiring admin review. We strongly suggest including an email address with any content submission, to ensure communication regarding edits and attribution of the content, should it be published on the site. In no instance will any of these data be shared with outside parties, or sold.
You must be registered and logged in to leave a comment on our site. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Please note that while the site is young, we will be using google analytics for understanding our users and to inform our decisions. You have my word that this decision will be phased out as soon as practically feasible (months, not years). In the meantime, you may choose to opt out of analytics data-gathering by installing an opt-out plugin for your browser.
We, however, do not personally perform any analytics with our user info, and do not sell your data to anyone who would.

This is never shared with external parties.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
